How to produce fabulous fundraising events/ Betty Stallings and Donna McMillion

This manual has templates for all the activities that are a part of the program. pg 93-168 has the tasks and the entity responsible for the tasks 'what to do' - board member, development director, executive director, or a volunteer. I like the 'Insider's Tips' such as, 'You want the Celebrity Waiters near the guests 'working' for tips, not in the kitchen getting the meals. I also like the level of depth and details such as 'four greeter volunteers, one security volunteer, and six funny money sellers and collectors, money counters, one counter supervisor/banker, one coat room volunteer, one event photographer, one videographer, three polaroid photographers, four live auction coordinators, .   In the library context, I can add one information navigator. The 'Insider's Tip' = Especially important to train the funny money sellers on how to use the credit card machine.

Insider's Tip = If the tips are collected from the Celebrity Waiters and tabulated by the volunteers several times during the dinner, less time will be needed to finalize the results at the end of the dinner.
  • High Tea for teachers
  • Celebrity Waiters and tipping revenue
Prepare a preliminary budget:

  1. Estimate project event income and expenses
  2. Evaluate potential underwriters/sponsors
  3. Check with your insurance carrier about event insurance
  4. Prepare a preliminary budget to determine if the event as projected will meet the financial goals
